Foxa partners to take healthcare workwear to a new level - sustainability and circular economy first

Foxa Oy has played a key role in a new healthcare workwear collection developed with Provina Textile Services and Touchpoint. The project was tendered by the health care services of the South Ostrobothnia and Ostrobothnia welfare regions.

The project is an excellent example of cooperation where the fabric supplier, the clothing manufacturer and the end customer join forces to create responsible and user-friendly solutions.

Foxa has strong textile expertise

Foxa Oy is known in its market area for having the widest range of work, military and outdoor fabrics. The company has been involved in the development of a renewed workwear collection that meets the demanding criteria of the healthcare sector.

The new workwear is made from a soft and versatile microfibre that offers both comfort and durability.

Commenting on the project, Johanna Rämö, CEO of Foxa, said:

"While developing and quality assuring hard-wearing materials is a daily routine for Foxa, in this project we tested the fabrics' properties and wash resistance more extensively than usual and in collaboration with our customers Touchpoint and Provina. During the project, hundreds of fabric samples were tested and fabric production was closely monitored. Comprehensive and well-planned quality control also minimised fabric production losses."

Increasing importance of circular economy and sustainability in public procurement

Environmental considerations and the circular economy are also becoming increasingly important selection criteria in public procurement. Foxa has been actively involved in promoting these values in the clothing industry.

Foxa is committed to developing materials that meet ecological and sustainability requirements, and at the same time we are strengthening the position of the Forssa region as a pioneer in the circular economy.

In the competition for the new healthcare workwear collection developed with Provina and Touchpoint, special emphasis was placed on the longevity, recyclability and sustainability of the materials. The choice of microfibres supports these objectives, as the material is resistant to repeated washing, keeps its shape and offers comfort to healthcare professionals.

Quality collaboration enables sustainable solutions

The development process for the new collection is a good example of how quality collaboration can achieve sustainable and functional solutions.

Mikko Tanhuamäki, CEO of Provina, emphasises the importance of collaboration:

Well-functioning workwear is an essential part of daily healthcare, both in terms of getting the job done and in terms of visual appearance. For Provina, it is important that the entire life cycle of workwear from manufacturing to recycling is controlled and transparent. For this reason, we paid particular attention to the sustainability of our partners during the procurement phase.

At Foxa, we see the project as a good example and a start for stronger cooperation between textile actors - by combining forces and expertise, we can develop increasingly responsible and user-friendly textiles and workwear of the future.
