Flame retardancy testing in Foxa's own laboratory

The new Cordura 500 PU FR fabric is built for heavy wear - and it is also flame retardant.

Foxa is now able to conduct its own fire resistance testing and thus control the quality of its flame retardant fabrics. A fire testing device purchased last summer for Foxa's laboratory is capable of flame spread testing, with surface and/or edge ignition, in accordance with EN ISO 6941.

The Cordura branded polyamide 6.6 fabrics have been developed to withstand extreme wear and abrasion. These fabrics are part of Foxa's standard stock and are now also available in a flame retardant version: the Cordura 500 PU FR. This fabric meets the requirements of EN ISO 14116 flame spread index 1, which states that the fire test may burn a hole into the fabric, but the flame needs to go out by itself. Before a fire test is conducted, the fabric is washed several times. Cordura 500 PU FR is perfect for a variety of protective clothing and accessories. The fabric can also be used as knee reinforcements etc. in flame retardant clothing in accordance with flame spread index 3, but the fabric combination needs to be tested separately in this case.

In addition to Cordura, Foxa carries another range of extremely durable polyamide fabrics: Foxa's own brand Foxdura. Together, the Cordura and Foxdura collections offer a wide range of fabrics that can meet the highest strength requirements. The fabrics are available as single-colour versions and with camouflage patterns.
