There are certain requirements for clothing for hikers and people who work outdoors. Waterproofing and breathability are key, but it also helps if the garment is flexible!
It’s pouring with rain and the wind is howling, but you still have to work. A traditional raincoat isn’t flexible or breathable, nor does it necessarily meet workwear requirements. What’s the solution?
Foxa’s multipurpose Action product family has welcomed a new addition: Action Flex. It contains all of the Action fabrics’ great practical properties, such as excellent water vapour permeability, waterproofing, and good wear-resistance, but it is also flexible, and adds comfort to workwear, for example.
“Flexibility has long been a desirable and popular property in clothing for hiking and other sportswear. Now we’re bringing that same property to demanding workwear,” explains Salla Hintsanen, who is responsible for the product development work on Action Flex.
“We recently exhibited Action Flex at the EuroSafety trade fair and it received plenty of positive feedback. Workwear manufacturers and designers currently have a fantastic opportunity to offer their customers a new, more comfortable material.”
The flexibility of Action Flex was developed without compromising on any other properties required for demanding workwear.
“Our fabrics meet strict quality durability and care criteria for workwear,” confirms Salla Hintsanen.
Properties are key
In outdoor work, such as construction and logistics, workwear must protect the wearer from cold, wind, and rain. Simultaneously, it must also be comfortable, flexible and breathable.
It’s possible to add flexibility and a new kind of movement to the outermost layers of clothing.
“Action Flex is carefully laminated to be able to withstand stretching and strain. It also has excellent water vapour permeability. The breathability of the fabric drastically increases the wearer’s comfort,” explains Salla Hintsanen.
Action Flex is made from polyester fabric onto which a hydrophilic polyurethane membrane is laminated, which provides the fabric with wind and waterproof properties.. Both the fabric and the lamination are flexible.
