Kardog makes hunting dog workwear ranging from caps to warming coats.
Kardog from Jämijärvi, Finland, makes workwear for hunting dogs. Kardog's dogwear collection includes a wide variety of high-visibility vests, raincoats, warming coats, and overalls. Some of their more novel products include caps and even sleeping bags where dogs can rest and warm up during breaks. Most of Kardog's clothing is made with Foxa fabrics.
Kardog business owner Anne Kartaslammi-Viitaniemi says that workwear for a hunting dog demands a lot from the fabric:
- The fabric needs to be durable and stretchy at the same time, which is quite a challenging combination. Hunting dog workwear also needs to be visible from a distance, which is why fluorescent colours are a top choice.
Kardog products are tested on hunting dogs, and the company takes note of the experiences and wishes of its target audience. - New models are tested in hunting use for at least a year before they make the cut and are taken into production. Feedback from the testers is used to improve the garment designs and even change the materials, if needed, says Kartaslammi-Viitaniemi.
Hunting dogs are by far Kardog's largest customer group, with dachshunds being the number one wearers of the company's clothing. However, the collection includes high-visibility vests and outdoor clothing for lighter use by breeds of all shapes and sizes. In addition to the standard designs, Kardog also makes custom products for its customers.
