Award-winning thesis created from Foxa fabrics - Lauri Greis combines national costume and sportswear to create a modern national costume

Lauri Greis, a student of fashion and design at Aalto University, presented his thesis at the university's annual fashion event last spring. It won the young designer a total of three prizes and a place in the Nordic competition.

"As a result of the Nordic competition, my collection is now on display at the Emma Museum in Espoo until early December," says Greis.

Greis, who is interested in sports fashion and clothing, got the idea for his collection from the Antrean national costume, which he inherited from his grandmother.

"I did more research on national costumes and the idea of a newer national costume for Finns, the windbreaker, came to mind."

Greis used Foxa fabrics in his collection, including Action Mistral and Action Light.

"The fabrics were really high quality with nice clean colours. For example, the red was perfect for the Antrea national costume."

"The fabrics also had a nice way of pleating with steam, which in traditional national costumes was done with drawstring."

Greis, who has started her Master's studies, hopes to get an internship in Europe and wants to return to Finland later to work.

"I am really grateful for the cooperation with Foxa. It's great that there are still companies in this field in Finland."
